TS Galaxy’s road to the 2026 Nedbank Cup final
PIC: TS Galaxy stunned Mamelodi Sundowns in the Last 16
TS Galaxy will play in a second Nedbank Cup final in seven years as they prepare to take on Durban City in the 2026 decider at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on May 2.
They will be looking for a repeat of their stunning success in 2019 when, as a second-tier side, they defeated Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in the final in Durban thanks to Zakhele Lepasa’s late penalty.
They have had a tough run to the final, including ousting mighty Mamelodi Sundowns in the Last 16. Here is a recap of their journey so far.
LAST 32 – TS GALAXY 1-0 MARUMO GALLANTS
Galaxy needed extra time to defeat fellow top-flight side Marumo Gallants, but Victor Letsoalo’s goal after 104 minutes was enough to see them progress.
Chances were few in the game, but an enthusiastic crowd at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, Galaxy’s home for all four 2026 Nedbank Cup matches to date, saw them through to the win.
Letsoalo had missed an early headed chance, but made no mistake when gifted the opportunity from Kganyane Letsoenyo’s cross as he launched himself at the ball and steered it into the net.
Team: Ira Tape, Patrick Fisher (Lentswe Motaung 67’), MacBeth Mahlangu, Igor, Kganyane Letsoenyo, Nhlanhla Mgaga (Veluyeke Zulu 120’), Mlungisi Mbunjana, Seluleko Mahlambi (Onke Moletshe 112’), Mory Keita (Jeffrey Dlamini 86’), Junior Zindoga, Victor Letsoalo (Siyabonga N'Guessan 112’).

LAST 16 – TS GALAXY 2-0 MAMELODI SUNDOWNS
A huge scalp for Galaxy as they knocked out the four-time Nedbank Cup winners and were comfortably the better side on the day.
Galaxy took the lead after 19 minutes and it was a special moment for Siphamandla Ngwenya. Sundowns defender Divine Lunga coughed up possession and the teenager raced through the centre before beating Denis Onyango with a low shot into the corner.
It was 2-0 just past the half-hour mark as Galaxy were awarded a clear penalty, for which Sundowns could have no complaints.
Winger Seluleko Mahlambi took on Sundowns left-back Thato Sibiya in the box and the 19-year-old made an ill-timed tackle in which he failed to win the ball. Junior Zindoga stepped up to convert the spot-kick.
Team: Ira Tape, Lentswe Motaung, MacBeth Mahlangu, Igor, Kganyane Letsoenyo, Mlungisi Mbunjana, Sphesihle Maduna (Tshepo Kakora 46’), Seluleko Mahlambi (Jeffrey Dlamini 87’), Siphamandla Ngwenya (Mpho Mvelase 46’), Junior Zindoga (Nhlanhla Mgaga 81’), Victor Letsoalo (Mory Keita 81’).

QUARTER-FINALS – TS GALAXY 2-0 JACKSA SPEARS
Northern Cape ABC Motsepe League side Jacksa Spears had made it all the way to the quarter-finals, but TS Galaxy were again comfortable 2-0 winners at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.
The Rockets took the lead on 34 minutes when Brazilian Igor Silva headed into the net from Patrick Fisher’s cross for his first goal in South African football since he arrived at the start of the season.
Tshepo Kakora made the tie safe when he added a second just before the hour mark, which was also his first goal for the club following his move from Magesi FC.
Spears had their opportunities and struck the crossbar in the second half, but their club-record campaign came to an end with defeat.

SEMI-FINALS – TS GALAXY 1-1 MILFORD FC
Galaxy set up their 2026 Nedbank Cup final appearance with a hard-fought 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory over second-tier Milford FC after the teams had played to a 1-1 draw.
The match was played in sweltering heat at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium and, when extra time could not separate the teams, spot-kicks were needed.
Milford took the lead in the 11th minute when Bulelani Sigomoshe broke down the right and his low cross was turned into the net by Siphosethu Ndlabi with a clever backheel finish.
It was the first goal that The Rockets had conceded in this year’s competition after three successive clean sheets.
The goal came against the run of play after Galaxy had made a bright start to the game, and the home side were level on 55 minutes with veteran Victor Letsoalo finding the back of the net.
Letsoalo headed into the net from Seluleko Mahlambi’s cross from the left and, in doing so, took his career tally in the competition to nine goals.
